L'Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine is a group that, since its creation in 1981, has offered a specific format of 45 to 50 musicians adapted to the most varied and adventurous repertoires, from Mozart and Haydn to contemporary creation.
Under the artistic direction of conductor and pianist Jean-François Heisser since 2000, the orchestra shapes its style through bold programming. Its unanimously recognized musical quality enables it to regularly invite the great soloists in the news: Angelich, Capuçon, Chamayou, Dumay, Guerrier, Hoffman, Peirani, Salque, Radulovic, de Maistre, Coppey, Pernoo... NACO's identity is also built around invitations to renowned conductors: Marek Janowski, François-Xavier Roth, Arie Van Beek, Louis Langree, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Jean-François Verdier, Fayçal Karoui, Xu Zhong and others.
The new generation of up-and-coming conductors is also extremely well represented: Marzena Diakun, Nicolas Simon, Adrien Perruchon, Dylan Corlay. The mission of discovering new talent means that every musical moment is a pleasure shared by audience and musicians alike.
Resident at the Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers, this touring orchestra is close to its local area, performing in major cities and smaller towns alike. While Poitiers is its home base, it has also forged loyal ties with major Parisian venues - Opéra Comique, Cité de la Musique, Radio France, La Seine Musicale, Les Bouffes du Nord - and major festivals - Roque d'Anthéron, Saintes, Berlioz, Messiaen, Abbaye de l'Epau, La Folle Journée.
The inaugural concert of the first edition of the Festival Ravel en Nouvelle-Aquitaine was an opportunity to rename the Orchestre Poitou-Charentes as the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Committed to bringing music to as many people as possible in its region, the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine also has at the heart of its philosophy a social and solidarity-based commitment that leads it to meet new audiences and the younger generation.
With the ambition of making "scholarly" music accessible to all, the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine promotes a rich, innovative cultural program combining musical practice and encounters with artists and works of art.
Its original and ambitious discography policy, in exclusivity with the Mirare label, is marked by the release in 2017 of the complete five Beethoven piano concertos played and conducted by Jean-François Heisser.
